Blake Marshall joins the Giants from the Adelaide Football League and will play alongside fellow new arrival Mitch Gleeson, who was confirmed as a travelling player.
Coach Coleman Schache was pleased with his team's recruitment.
"They look like they have a bit of talent and I'm excited to see how they go once that first game starts," he said.
"I've had one practice match with them, and they're really good people and that's the main thing for a start."
Mitch Gleeson will travel from Melbourne, where he is studying. He brings experience from time in the Development League with the Northern Blues and Aberfeldie, in the Essendon District Football League
"Mitch has a bit of size about him so he'll be flexible for us all around the ground," Coleman said.
Marshall won a premiership with Modbury in 2016 and recently relocated to Horsham for work.
Schache said it was too early to talk about their roles in the side.
"It might take a couple of weeks to work out where they best fit in," he said.
"Blake's a running player and likes to find the footy so I can see him fitting into the midfield there."
Nicholas O'Farrell, Brock Orval and Jackson Fisher all left from last year's grand final side, but Schache was optimistic about the team re-building.
"We've lost some really quality players and clubmen as well - some good blokes that have been around for a while," he said.
"We're looking forward to this new lot coming through and young ones have been putting their hands up too, so we're excited with the new list going forward."
The Giants start their season on Saturday against Stawell in Beulah.
