For more than 44 years Stawell Women's Day Basketball has contributed to women's sport in the region.
On Monday, players and supporters shared their messages of inspiration and support to one another on a special display wall in honour of This Girl Can week.
More than 20 messages of courage were written and displayed next to the court for inspiration while the regular games were conducted.
Game one was a low scoring affair as Red took on Gold.
It was all tied up, two points a piece, as the half time buzzer sounded.
Georgie Larkin was a top scorer for Gold while Madi McCartney contributed six points to Red.
At full time, four points separated the teams, Red taking home the glory.
Blue were up against Green in game two.
Hayley Young got her eye in early scoring eight points in the first half for Blue.
Erin Freeland chipped in and helped her team mate ending her day with a three-point shot, a rarity in the competition.
Green's Michelle Beaton looked unstoppable - sinking four baskets for each half and racked up 16 points.
Blue proved too strong over Green who were competing with only four players. Blue ran away with the win 43-28.
Next week the games begin at normal time of 1pm.
The competition has put a call out for any residents interested in playing or participating as a supporter to come along on game day on Monday.
