Cr Emerson will represent the rural north west region on the board, being elected uncontested onto the board.
“I’m very honoured to have been elected to the MAV board as the Rural North West representative," Cr Emerson said.
“I’m looking forward to representing all the shires, but of course specifically, those in the rural north west region, which reaches towns such as Stawell, St Arnaud, Swan Hill, Mildura, Horsham and the west Wimmera as well.
“In terms of our shire, it will also give us a voice at board level, with the biggest local government representative organisation within Victoria.”
A further five councillors were elected to the board uncontested, with the other six region representatives still to be decided.
MAV representatives will also vote on a president, with Pyrenees Shire's Cr David Clark one of four candidates.
The MAV is a voice for local government in the state, allowing councillors from across Victoria to work together to ensure efficient and effective governance from local and state levels.
