Ararat’s Three Blooms owner Becky McDougall was forced to deliver heartbreaking news to a bride-to-be on Friday after her delivery of flowers was stolen.

Mrs McDougall said she went to pick up the flowers from the usual drop off point on Friday morning and there was no box.
“I immediately called my supplier and freight company,” she said.
“After they confirmed with me the parcel was delivered and left there – we knew then it was stolen.”
Mrs McDougall said it was a disappointing outcome from a small business point of view.
“I have only been in business for about five months,” she said.
“These flowers were worth hundreds of dollars – something which puts a dent in the pocket of any small business.
“The most disappointing thing about the whole ordeal was the flowers were for a bride – not for my everyday shop which I could have worked around.”
At one of the busiest times of the year, Valentine’s Day, Mrs McDougall said she made sure the order for the flowers were put in a month ago – ensuring the bride received exactly what she wanted on the day.
“When I called my supplier back and explained what happened we worked through a solution,” she said.
“Then I made the dreaded call to the bride – who was fantastic about the whole thing.
“You never would expect your flowers to be stolen.”
Mrs McDougall said she has since found out the location of some flowers that have been dumped.
“Someone came and told me there were flowers in a dumpster in a back of one of the shops on Barkly Street,” she said.
“It’s disappointing. Someone might have thought it was fun at the time – but when it impacts so many people – it certainly isn’t fun.
“Flowers which were found would only make up some of the delivery so there still is a mystery of where the other flowers were.
“Someone might have beautiful flowers in their home, including an orchid plant, at the expense of heartache and stress for everyone involved.”
