At the Stawell U3A, we believe our body and brain work happiest together, the programs scheduled for each term are good for both body and brain.
The University of the Third Age is an international movement whose aims are the education and stimulation of mainly retired members of the community.
The term one program fills Monday mornings with Tai Chi and German Language Studies and Online Studies for Monday afternoons.
There is a small but active group of artists meeting every Friday morning and a vocal Open Forum Group which meets on a Friday afternoon.
This term a guest speaker will sing, he will take the Friday afternoon group on a musical journey - Music Through the Ages. Regular programs include Drama Studies (always a hoot).
Travel Talk, last year a Personal Look at France (with pictures) by one of our members, was a delight.
Book Reviews are fun, we all read from different sections of the library, this makes for a varied take on where our minds have been!
Music Appreciation (classical) is also a popular session.
There is a bushwalk and a social lunch every term.
In past years, we have enjoyed a visit to Ballarat Gallery for the Archibald Exhibition, a trip to a Pomonal native garden and of course the Silo Art Trail. Voted one of our best days was an afternoon at the Stawell Historical Society.
The course co-ordinating committee has some good suggestions for great places of interest for this year.
The annual membership is reasonable, and members can be part of one group or all groups.
New members are always welcome.
