Public Transport Victoria statistics show just 74.2 per cent of trains on the line were on time in January, the least punctual since May last year when they ran at 73.6 per cent on time.
It is down on the 76.6 per cent recorded in December last year and significantly lower than the 82.8 per cent on time rate of the same month in 2018.
The line was well below the V/Line regional average of 86.4 per cent.
The percentage of services delivered also decreased in January, dropping to 96.8 per cent, its lowest percentage since January 2016.
A total of 11 services on the Ararat/Maryborough line were cancelled in January. It is well below the line's delivery average of 99.5 per cent.
Other lines in the region stood up last month, with 87.7 per cent of trains arriving on time in the Ballarat line, an improvement from the same month in 2018, and a 1.2 per cent improvement from last month.
