“This survey is giving communities an opportunity to provide their views on what they value in our forests, how forest management can be improved, and what they would like from forests into the future," Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning regional director Christine Ferguson said.
The survey is available at engage.vic.gov.au/future-of-our-forests until March 31.
It is part of a process to modernise Regional Forest Agreements and forest management systems.
“This process includes a clear commitment to work in partnership with Traditional Owners to deliver the RFA modernisation program and manage Victoria’s forests into the future," Ms Ferguson said.
“Existing RFAs were written more than 20 years ago and need to be updated to reflect contemporary science and community needs, including a clear framework that balances environmental protection and economic and employment opportunities.
“We will also be engaging Victorians through public lectures, drop-in centres, workshops and a range of other events throughout the year.”
