Under the banner Sowing Seeds for Better Health, 12 organisations will showcase a range of services, activities and giveaways aimed to help you stay healthy, active and connected to your community.
Participating agencies will be located in and around a health and well-being hub of the Moore Exhibition Centre.
At its centre, a communal space will feature a variety of activities based on the theme of healthy living, with opportunities for residents to keep fit, learn new skills and explore new social networks.
Visitors can discover the many classes on offer at their local Neighbourhood House, or the fitness programs at Horsham Aquatic Centre.
Other hub highlights include the Men’s Shed toy making workshops and displays, cooking demonstrations, games, health checks and an interactive mini-robot “petting” zoo for children.
Wimmera Primary Care Partnership Health Promotion worker Ruth Williams said they encouraged visitors to stop by and learn about the many community services and programs available in our region.
Large, colourful shop signs will be displayed at each agency site as you wander through. By visiting the sites, visitors can enter a competition with the chance to win great prizes.
The collaboration is a part of the Wimmera Primary Care Partnership’s approach to improving the health and well-being of the region. Agencies involved include BreastScreen Victoria, Centre for Participation, Child and Family Services Ballarat, Grampians Community Health, Horsham Aquatic Centre, Rural Northwest Health, West Wimmera Health Services, Wimmera Health Care Group, Wimmera Regional Library Corporation, Wimmera West Grampians Neighbourhood House Network and the Wimmera Men’s Shed Network.
