Wilf Dickeson stood down from the Football Integration Development Association team’s top position at the end of last season having served several years as coach.
Wimmera Regional Sports Assembly access for all abilities program manager Nic Baird said he is hopeful of securing someone for the position soon.
“We are only a couple of months away from the season starting so we are looking to bring a coach on board sooner rather than later,” he said.
”Anyone that knows a bit of footy is more than welcome to have a crack.
“It isn’t a massive commitment, with training just once a week and games spread out every few weeks.”
Baird said he would encourage nominations for the position given its rewarding nature.
“It is one of those things a lot of people can be a bit standoffish to start with but once you see the enjoyment the players being out there and chasing the footy it is so rewarding,” he said.
“Unlike the mainstream footy it doesn't matter win, lose or draw. There is no pressure on the coach, it is mostly about enjoying the game of footy.”
Baird said they are also on the lookout for any new players to join the team.
“It would be great to see some new faces come along,” he said.
“You don’t need to have played footy before and it is open to males and females.”
The FIDA season is expected to begin around mid-April, with Giants training to resume in mid to late March.
