Stawell’s Ian and Margaret Taylor and Bellellen’s Meg Blake were among those that have had decades of volunteer work rewarded.
The trio have each been honoured with Medals of the Order of Australia (OAMs) in recognition of decades of service to the community.
“On behalf of all Australians I congratulate recipients of Australia Day Honours. These people are worthy of our respect, admiration and thanks – they have made an enormous contribution to their local communities and to the entire nation,” Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove said.
Mrs Blake has been recognised for years of commitment to the Stawell Y-Zetts as well as fundraising for the Stawell Hospital.
Mr and Mrs Taylor have been involved in an array of community organisations in their decades of service to Stawell.
They played significant roles with groups such as Stawell Uniting Church, Stawell Lions Club, Callawadda CFA, Stawell Riding for the Disabled, Eventide Homes and many others.
More to come.
