Chris Harwood, Cheryl Harwood, Frank Bradley and and Horsham’s Chris Brooksby all competed in the first of seven rounds of the championships.
The Confederation of Australian Motorsport (CAMS) runs all motor sport events across Australia.
The hill climb has different types of classes for different types of cars involved in the event.
The classes and categories include sport sedan over two litre, improved production which include car types such as a mini turbo two litre to three litre (2001cc-3000cc engine capacity), improved production 3001cc and over.
The improved production category means that a standard vehicle can compete but participants can improve the vehicle in order to improve its performance, however, it must be under tight rules.
The other part of the improved production category is the engine capacity, which means cars can only compete against the same engine capacity in that category.
The hill climb is a simple time trial, where each driver, no matter what class they are in, competes against the clock as they aim to drive up the course.
Brooksby won his class in the improved production 3001cc with a V8 engine with a time of 24.36 seconds.
Bradley won his class in the improved production mini turbo two litre to three litre with a time of 26.77sec.
Chris Harwood competed in the sport sedan over two litre and got a time of 26.75sec which was good enough for second place.
Cheryl Harwood competed in the same car and got a time of 34.81 seconds, claiming third.
Ararat Car Club vice-president Chris Harwood said it was good to be part of such an historic hill climb.
“The event itself was great and the weather was perfect,” he said.
“The Rob Roy Hill climb is the oldest hill climb in Australia and the second oldest hill climb in the world.”
Racing began at the Rob Roy Hill Climb in 1938.
Round two of the Victorian Hill Climb Championship is at Bryant Park and hosted by the Gippsland Car Club on February 16 in a twilight race.
