THE annual Stawell Christmas Parade, organised by StawellBiz, made its way down Main Street Friday night and into the Stawell Entertainment Centre to sing Christmas carols.

The carols were originally planned for Cato Park but were moved last minute into the Stawell Entertainment Centre due to ongoing wet weather in the region.
Organised by Stawell Performing Arts Company Inc, secretary Tracey Erkelens said the turn out for the carols was still great.
“So far we’re pretty happy with the turn out because indoors can be low attendance, but it’s turned out,” she said.
Ms Erkelens said she hopes to build on the event each year.
“We’re trying to figure out how we can keep that happening. We’ve had quite a few businesses support us and taken a bit more initiative in how we can improve this,” she said.
“Our plan is to try and build and improve on it every year and build on that Christmas spirit and get the community engaged.”
The organisers also held the first Christmas lantern competition.
“We’ve had about 58 entries,” Ms Erkelens said.
Carols were led by Stawell West Primary School choir, Sarah Dunlop, the Come and Sing Choir, and the Young Ones choir.
The music was led by the Stawell City Brass Band.
Northern Grampians Shire Council mayor, Councillor Kevin Erwin officially welcomed everyone to the event.
