The truck was carrying an enormous piece of infrastructure bound for the Bulgana Wind Farm.
A spokesman from engineering and construction company RJE Global said that the company lodged an application for the route with VicRoads under the belief that the traffic light that was downed a month ago still hadn’t been re-installed.
He said this would allow the driver room to three-point-turn through the intersection.
VicRoads Acting Director Heavy Vehicle Services Marc Paglia said the responsibility to ensure smooth passage through the intersection was on the operator.
“It is the responsibility of the operator to ensure that the approved route for their load remains suitable for travel prior to the scheduled movement,” he said
“Operators are strongly advised to carry out a pilot run before setting off on their journey.”
