Carey takes on the senior coaching role for his fourth season, while Clarke remains the reserves team’s coach.
Carey said he was looking forward to the challenge that lay ahead.
“The plan is to build the club up and be in the best position it can be,” Carey said.
“I really feel like I need one more year on board to be able to put the club in a position where I want it to be before I look at passing it on to someone else and focus on my next move.”
The Baggies’ 2018 season delivered mixed results, with injuries sidelining some senior players.
Finishing sixth on the ladder, the senior side secured a Horsham District league finals berth in the last round of the season in a tight finish.
“Injuries are always going to occur – it’s just about how you manage them. I thought we managed them alright. It was the late ones that hurt,” Carey said.
“We underachieved a little bit and let the last game get away from us. Although disappointing, I can feel improvement as a whole.”
A key focus for Carey and the club moving forward is building depth within the side.
“This, in turn, will then make any injuries we sustain no major issue. We have a few juniors coming up and rounding out the squad as a whole for the 2019 season,” he said.
Clarke will be aiming for a stronger finals campaign in 2018 after the reserves team were knocked out in the first week.
The team lost to Kalkee after finishing third on the ladder with 11 wins and five losses during the 2018 season.
