People experiencing homelessness will be able to vote with the ‘no fixed address’ option and exercise their democratic right to help decide who will form government.
“Giving people the right to participate assists them to feel part of the community” said Grampians Community Health homelessness and family violence support worker Gemma Beavis said.
“It’s every person’s right to access services and take part in democratic processes. To be able to assist people to do this regardless of their circumstances is something GCH is always pleased to help with.”
The Homeless not Voteless program works with community organisations such as Grampians Community Health throughout the state to help register homeless people to vote.
People enrolled under the no fixed address option will not get fined if they do not vote but will still remain on the electoral roll.
The 2018 Victorian election will take place on Saturday November 24, with early voting centres already open throughout the state.
