Horsham teams, the Heat and the Rockets, competed alongside teams from Stawell, Ararat and Warracknabeal. Independent Horsham competitor Madee Townsend also took part.
The Heat’s Indya Bauch tied for Best Female Athlete in Category A, while her teammate Rachael Werner came in second. Horsham Heat also tied second for Best Indoor Team.
Heat team manager Jake Myerscough said Bauch was shocked by her win.
“She was really surprised and really excited. It was so good to see her up there accepting the award," he said.
“The games allow the competitors to get away for a while and something they wouldn’t usually do. The social aspect also gives them a great confidence boots.”
Rockets team helper Jeff Pekin said the team won the 50 metre relay in athletics, with Tom Leembruggen, Michael Clark, Jason Perkins and Andrew Lang running.
He also said the 10 team members won a total of 36 medals between them.
“It was a really good week. They’re already talking about holding different events next year,” he aid.
“It’s so good for the team members to meet up with old friends and make new ones. The games just giv them a chance to get together and be social.”
The event will be held in Adelaide again next year.
