The seven-a-side tournament will take place at North Park with two fields set up.
Eight teams from across western Victoria will be participating and the club’s development officer Rob Lembo said they are expecting about 80-100 people to attend.
“We have a number of fundraising ideas planned for the day as well as a full schedule of soccer,” he said.
“Spectators and players will be able to purchase lunch from our barbecue as well.”
The Stawell Pioneers will be matching up against teams in what will be their second tournament together.
“We participated in the South West Games in Hamilton recently and came away with an inaugural win and a draw against established teams,” Lembo said.
The day begins at 10am and each game will run for 15-minute halves with a one minute halftime break.
“A grand final will be played out at the end of the day, starting at about 2.45,” Lembo said.
“There will be some fantastic soccer for everyone to come and watch. It’s an opportunity for kids to see if it would be a sport for them.”
Sunday will be the first time Stawell residents will have the opportunity to watch the newly formed soccer team on the field.
“Our club is now incorporated and has established a functioning committee with regular meetings since we first put the idea out to the public in early 2018,” he said.
The club has also announced a come and try day in line with their first tournament. “The day will provide an opportunity for all ages and genders to express interest in registering with the club,” Lembo said.
“We are currently looking into the viability of a junior development program and encourage anyone interested in playing soccer to be in touch.”
