Police executed a warrant at an address in Stone Street, Stawell on Wednesday, finding about 90 cannabis plants.
“We found about 90 cannabis plants in various stages of maturity,” Ararat Detective Senior Constable Mal Wineberg said.
“It seems like this address was in the initial stages of being set up for something a bit larger.”
The warrant at Stone Street was issued less than one week after police seized a “commercial quantity” of cannabis plants at a Byrne Street address in Stawell.
Two men were arrested in relation to the Byrne Street raid.
“The warrant was issued in relation to an ongoing investigation into a cannabis crop house that was located on Byrne Street on Friday, November 9,” Senior Constable Wineberg said.
“We believe they are connected. We believe this house is connected to the two males we have in custody.”
It is the third Stawell property police have raided and taken cannabis plants from, having also found “about 200” cannabis plants at a Holmes Court address in mid-October.
“We haven’t established any links to that address at the moment but we have some inquiries which we are still conducting,” Senior Constable Wineberg said.
Senior Constable Wineberg said police are always open for tip offs about any other drug activity in the region.
“We are always interested in any information from the community about drugs whether it is ice or cannabis,” he said.
Stawell Station Commander Senior Sergeant Tevis Wright said he could not speak specifically about the incidents as investigations are still ongoing.
He said he has been pleased by the amount of drugs that have been seized.
”Any disruption activity we have that prevents drugs getting out to the community we are very happy with,” he said.
“We see that as a great result.”
