Patrons can look forward to being entertained and experience true country racing at one of the oldest racecourses in Victoria.
Racing dates back to 1857 when gold was first discovered in the region.
The Ararat Cup will run race six on the schedule with a $70,000 prize pool.
Trainer Darren Weir will have four runners in the 11-horse race.
Local trainers Terry and Karina O’Sullivan and Paul Jones have one entry each.
Terry and Karina O’Sullivan’s Patch Adams won the Casterton Cup in May 2018 but hasn’t placed since.
Paul Jones will be looking to back up the success of the Sheep Hills Cup in September.
The race ran at Warracknabeal with Barry the Baptist claiming top prize
The China Bowl will be the other big race on the day, listed at race seven, boasting $82,000 in prize money.
Event Manager Kate Kirkpatrick said patrons on the day can expect to see an array of activities to suit all ages.
“We have live entertainment, jumping castles, slides, face-painting and lots more to do for the kids,” she said.
Fashions on the field are listed to begin from 1pm.
“This year we have over $4000 in prizes for fashions this year, with lady and gent of the day announced at 2.15pm,” she said.
Ms Kirkpatrick said pre-package sales for the event are positive.
“The club is really happy with the pre-packaged sales. We’ve had a really good response so far,” she said.
“A free shuttle bus service will be available on race day, departing from the train station and town hall from 11am.”
The club received positive feedback from last years event, with former club manager estimating about 1700 people attended.
Ms Kirkpatrick said she was looking forward to another great day of racing.
“We encourage racegoers to embrace country casual; where you can enjoy backing a winner from our bars and bookmakers on course. We also offer plenty of outside grandstand seating for those looking to watch the races from a great undercover spot,” she said.
“If anyone would like any more information I urge them to jump onto the website www.country.racing.com/ararat.”
