The feel-good story of the weekend belonged to Frewstal, who up to this point of the season had failed to experience the sweet smell of success. Grampians Joinery went into the contest at full strength and started the match confidently, winning four of the first six sets, led superbly by skipper Rod Summers. However, to Frewstal’s credit, they hung tough and held a 15 game lead entering the mixed sets on the back of some brilliant play by youngster D’artagnan Walls. Simone Grace and Holly Graveson did their best to drag Grampians Joinery over the line, but in a see-sawing battle, Frewstal held on gamely to walk away with a seven game victory, 14 sets-180 games to 14 sets-173 games.
Stawell Toyota once again methodically dismantled another challenger as it recorded its third straight 50+ game victory, powering to a 51 game win, 17 sets to 11 over Delahunty Plumbing.
Delahunty Plumbing displayed some resistance early in the bout with Mick Sullivan leading the way, but as the match wore on Stawell Toyota had too many weapons. Molly Orr and Shaun Johansen continued their unbeaten run this season, while Stawell Toyota's leading ladies had a night out with Sue Blakey and Anna Sullivan supreme in all sets.
