The Ararat Y’s Menettes Club will stage their annual ball and debutantes have been busy practicing their steps during the past 10 weeks.
On Friday night the couples will make their presentations to Australian Y’s Menettes regional director Michelle Jansson, Ararat Y’s Menettes president Krystyna Stigger and Ararat Y’s Men’s Club president president Joe Perry.
On Saturday night, couples will make their presentations to Ararat Y’s Menettes club president Krystyna Stigger and debutante trainers Marlene and Joe Perry.
On Friday night the flower girl and page boy will be Grace and Wilhelm Mellors. On Saturday, Addison Lardner will take Grace’s place as flower girl, with Wilhelm again the page boy.
Ned Parsons said he was excited to see his friends and family when he and fellow students finally made their debuts.
“Everyone seems to be picking up the dances really well. We’re looking good,” he said.
“Hopefully we’ll get everything right.”
Gemma Millington said she was excited but the nerves were starting to kick in.
“I’m kind of nervous about going out there and being in front of everyone,” she said.
The attendants were also getting excited – especially flower girl Grace Mellors, who said she was looking forward to giving flowers to people as well as one other special aspect of the night, which was wearing her dress shoes.
“They are sparkly and have high heels. (I’ve only worn) mum’s high heels, that I stole,” she said.
Wilhelm, who was page boy in 2017, was a little less enthusiastic.
“I sort of like it. I don’t really have a favourite bit,” he said.
Both nights will be well supported with 300 guests expected on each.
