Staff and patrons were evacuated while emergency services responded.
Country Fire Authority District 16 operations officer Paul Ditchburn said staff called emergency services about 10am.
“There was a strong smell of chlorine near the spa which was unused for a period of time. When it was restarted there was a vapour release,” he said.
Mr Ditchburn said the vapour caused discomfort for people in the area.
“Stinging eyes, nose, mouth and shortness of breath” were symptoms recorded, Mr Ditchburn said.
“Facility staff evacuated all people on site. They did a really good job with their evacuation plan,” he said.
With summer approaching, Mr Ditchburn said it was a good reminder for people to be vigilant in preparing pools or installing new pools.
“The public need to ensure they are following proper procedures and getting the proper advice,” he said.
