The group met at the Stawell Uniting Church Hall.
The session included information on the plight of refugees, and what residents can do to assist.
A donation of oil to assist refugees living in Victoria who are unable to work was also made.
Annie Ruthven was the guest speaker on the day. Reverend Susan Pearse said people were moved by her presentation.
“Annie spoke about people who have fled their homes and live in uncertain times and accommodation – for some, it is the only home they know,” she said.
Annie Ruthven shared her experience of time spent teaching in a refugee camp on the Thai-Myanmar (Burma) border.
Reverend Pearse said the group welcomed inquiries for interested people to join the group.
