The day coincided with a ‘Flannie for a farmer’ dress-up day at the school.
Stawell Library manager Kerry Wilson said the initiative encouraged readers to “take the time to learn, grow, escape and relax”.
“Australian Reading Hour is a national program to entice Australians to either rediscover or introduce themselves to the benefits of reading,” she said.

“Reading has been shown to help with identity formation, setting them up for success in the future,” she said.
Stawell Library data shows reading has been shown to reduce stress by up 68 per cent.
“Reading can reduce stress levels, sometimes more than listening to music, going for a walk, or having a cup of tea,” Ms Wilson said.
