One of the organisers, Tim Syrota, said the quality of the art and the number of visitors to the exhibition resulted in one of its most successful years yet.
“Forty-five pieces of art were sold and this does not include auction, silent auction or kids’ pieces. This is nearly double last year and the most art sold in 20-odd years,” he said.
“Pomonal Primary, for whom the event is the primary annual fundraiser, raised more from the event than ever before and similarly, the amount of money going back to local artists and community businesses easily surpassed previous figures.”
Entries totaled 180 from 41 artists from the Grampians region and covered a diverse range of mediums including textiles, photography, glasswork, ceramics and sculpture as well as painting and sketching.
Students from Pomonal Primary School also entered pieces to be sold outright or auctioned off.
“The ceramics (made by students) were all gorgeous and everyone of those sold,” Mr Syrota said.
“A gentleman from Ararat made a series of robots out of old ‘50s and ‘60s kitchen utensils and every single one of those sold.”
The event hosted 448 ticket-holders, plus children and community members.
