Stawell green thumbs gather on the third Sunday of each month at 3pm to discuss all things gardening.
Julie Andrews is the treasure of the committee.
“Edna Osborne was the instigator of the community garden. She got the idea and brought it to Stawell,” she said.
Ms Andrews said residents were welcome to attend the monthly catch-ups.
“Members of the public are more than welcome to come and see what is going on. There is an opportunity for people to buy fresh and organic produce,” Ms Andrews said.
More than 10 garden beds are in use with a variety of planted items.
Ms Andrews said the garden was a great place for community to gather and spend time in the fresh air and feel involved.
“The garden is somewhere people can go and be a part of the community. If someone is away, members can keep an eye out and water your plots,” she said.
Ms Andrews said there was a wealth of knowledge and information sharing among members.
“(It) is a great place to start out about learning to grow your own produce,” she said.
Ms Andrews said residents were invited to a Garden Party featuring some singing on October 14 at 1pm.
“Attendees are asked to bring some food to share and a large salad will be made with the produce from the garden,” she said.
The committee will also conduct the group’s annual general meeting at the party.
