Hicks received 35 votes to take out the top C Grade honour.
She has had a great year in attack for the Saints, helping them into the grand final against Horsham this weekend.
Stawell’s Maddison Jelly was seven votes back from Hicks as runner-up, polling 28 votes.
Ararat’s Joanne Cameron rounded out the top three with 19 votes.
Hicks said it was a shock to win the award.
“It was a bit of a surprise, I was not expecting it at all,” she said.
“It has been a great season and we are lucky enough to be playing off in a grand final.”
Hicks said a strong effort from her team this season helped her attract attention from the umpires.
“You can’t get votes unless you are winning games and you can’t win games without a good team,” she said.
“Our C Grade side and coach Stacey Brennan have been great.”
