Name: Jess Cass
Age: 32
Community involvement: Finance director of Stawell Bowling Club, treasurer of Stawell Branch Country Women's Association, board member and treasurer of Grampians Tourism, board member and chair of the finance committee of Stawell Regional Health. Previous committee member of Stawell Biz and past treasurer and president of Raising Dust.
Favourite memory of volunteering: One of my favourite memories of volunteering is helping to organise the Christmas parade held on a Friday evening before Christmas each year. Seeing the delight on the faces in the crowd as the floats convoy down the main street is priceless. Another very fond memory was organising CWA's first scone drive to raise money for Crohn's and Colitis Australia. This was more successful than we ever could have hoped and it was so great to see all of our wonderful ladies working together to make hundreds of scones to fill all our orders.
Favourite aspect of your town: The people of Stawell are what make our town the great place to live that it is. We have a wonderful bunch of dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly in numerous organisations to ensure that our town thrives. From the committees of local sporting clubs to the people who assist with caring for the elderly, we have a strong culture of helping and supporting others.
What motivates you to volunteer at this particular club/for this particular cause: I enjoy helping others and find volunteering a fantastic way to give back to my local community. I try to utilise the skills that I have to help in roles where these particular skills are needed and I am always willing to jump in and assist wherever required.
