The $195,000 project commenced in mid-August. The length of the slide would be 38 metres.
An Ararat Rural City spokesperson said the council’s works department was working in conjunction with the Olympic Pool committee to complete the project.
The site has been surveyed to set out the slide with footings being bored, concrete poured for the steel mounts and columns and excavation of the run-out slab completed.
The spokesperson said plumbing for water delivery and recovery was underway and the concrete run-out slab should be completed by next week.
“Installation of the slide and commissioning will be undertaken by the supplier in October,” they said. “Thereafter there will be some landscape reinstatement work to be done including installation of seating and lighting.”
The spokesman said the new addition to the outdoor swimming pool was on schedule to be ready for the 2018/19 summer season.
The project was funded by the state government, Ararat Rural City Council, the pool committee and the community.
