RESIDENTS in the Grampians region can provide feedback to develop bushfire management strategies.
Forest Fire Management Victoria’s Grampians region assistant chief fire officer Peter Kambouris said strategic bushfire management planning was a multi-agency process.
Regional Strategic Fire Management Planning Committees guide to process to support decision making about fire management, based on risk.
“Teams consist of representatives from FFMVic, Country Fire Authority, Emergency Management Victoria and local governments,” he said.
Mr Kambouris said the strategy aimed to reduce the risk to things people valued most.
“Teams are now seeking community feedback to ensure that the values and objectives underpinning fire management are shared by the broader community,” Mr Kambouris said.
He said one focus was understanding where to target fuel management on both public and private land.
