Bussinessman Danial Ahchow has purchased the historic venue, adding to his growing list of businesses in Great Western.
Mr Ahchow is the manager director of Great Western Enterprises as well as managing Seppelt Wines and owning the Great Western Hotel.
“Great Western is fast becoming a food and wine mecca and Salingers in an integral part of this picture,” Mr Ahchow said.
“We can see a juxtaposition with the history of Salingers building with its exposed brickwork and Victorian decor, with modern dining options that you’d see in any cafe from Collingwood or Fitzroy.”
The sale of the business ends three years of management from husband and wife owners Rob Martin and Sandy Friend.
“It has been really rewarding knowing we have made an impact with the business,” Ms Friend said.
“This sort of business gives a heart to a small country town.
“It has been great to service the Ararat, Great Western and Stawell regions and we hope to continue to do so in future endeavours. We wish the new owners all the best.”
The business has been on the market for “about four months”.
Ms Friend said uncertainty about the town’s future with an impending bypass led her and her husband to the decision to sell.
Great Western Enterprises will take over operation of Salingers from the September 1. The cafe will be open seven days a week from 7am until 4pm.
