The footy action kicked off on Friday night as the Magpies won their second consecutive under-13 premiership. Hamish Smith had a big night for the premiers, clean sweeping the league’s awards.
The Baggies will take losing form into their senior football final against Edenhope-Apsley, going down to Natimuk United who booked a spot in the top six with the win.
The A Grade side did not fare much better, also losing away from home.
An inexperienced senior Rats side held off Nhill while things were much tighter at Central Park as Stawell held on for a one-point win over Minyip-Murtoa.
Ararat Storm progressed to the preliminary finals of the Ballarat youth girls football league on Sunday in Ballarat while closer to home the Mounties prevailed by one-point in a thrilling nder-13 grand final win over Warriors.
