The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast temperatures of between 10 and 12 degrees across the Wimmera on Saturday and Sunday, with snow down to 500 metres on Sunday.
Bureau senior forecaster Dean Stewart said a cold front was moving into south-west Victoria on Friday.
“It's going to move across the remainder of the state on Friday night and Saturday morning, and then we're going to see some follow-up cold air coming across the state,” he said.
“It also means we'll have snow down to quite low levels, falling to about 700 metres during Saturday and 500 metres on Sunday morning.”
The front is also forecast to generate strong winds.
The bureau has issued a severe weather warning for the Wimmera and parts of the Mallee for the weekend, with wind gusts up to 100km/h predicted.
Northerly winds averaging between 60 to 70km/h are forecast to strengthen ahead of the cold front.
The bureau has predicted showers and possible thunderstorms for the Wimmera on Saturday.
Horsham and Nhill are set for top temperatures of 12 degrees on Saturday and Sunday, while Ararat will reach 11 and 10 degrees respectively.
The bureau predicts a top of 11 degrees in Stawell for both days.
