Country Fire Authority District 16 operations officer Neville Collins said a person driving past in the area reported the fire at 12.05pm.

“The call came in as a grass fire spreading north,” he said.

“Dadswells Bridge and Stawell brigades were paged.”

Mr Collins said the fire was under control before 12.30pm, and trucks returned to their stations at 12.44pm.

Police said the fire was not suspicious.
