The club will be known as the Pioneers, paying homage to Stawell’s mining roots. The logo will incorporate figures of the two mining men found next to Stawell’s Town Hall clock.
The logo will undergo minor editing but is mostly complete.
“We wanted to incorporate as much of the town as possible into our new club,” Stawell president Jason Oosthuizen said.
“It was important for us to give our name some significance and meaning to where we are.”
The club also settled on their colours as green and black, with grey in the away kit. A final design is yet to be confirmed.
The Stawell Soccer Club officially formed towards the end of July, with its committee busy setting themselves up for the 2019 Ballarat District Soccer Association season.
The club now has certified MiniRoos members to teach the youngest junior players.
Their next step is to register the interest people have shown and to hold a ‘come and try’ session.
“As word is getting out there more interest is being shown which is great,” Stawell vice-president Ben Iseppi said.
“The biggest point now is fundraising. We have got a few things we are working on to see what the best way for us to raise money is.
“It is also about determining interest levels through all the grades - from juniors to a women’s team and a men’s team.”
