It was a mixed day in the Wimmera competitions for both Ararat and Stawell.
The Rats got the job done in the senior football but fell short in the A Grade contest to Minyip-Murtoa.
Playing at Central Park, Stawell was competitive but could not match the Southern Mallee Giants for a full four quarters in the senior match. However the A Grade team fared better, notching its second win of the season.
The Baggies and Lakers held their annual Indigenous round game at the weekend, with Swifts taking the chocolates on the football field and the netball court.
The Pumas kept their finals hopes alive in the Mininera District League with a commanding victory over the Ararat Eagles on Saturday.
The action didn’t stop on Sunday, with two teams of over 40s playing in the inaugural ‘Healthy Blokes’ game at Alexandra Oval, raising crucial funds for men’s health.
The Ararat District Junior Football Association also kicked off its finals on Sunday with some upset results in both games.
