It was a gymnastics bonanza at Stawell’s powerhouse on Sunday, with hundreds of young gymnasts from across Western Victoria competing in Stawell Gymnastics Club’s annual competition.
The club was able to show off its new sprung board in competition for the first time, an upgrade that was well received from other clubs.
“Everyone loved it and the kids enjoyed using it,” Stawell Gymnastics Club head coach Elissa Chalmers said.
“Other clubs mentioned how good it was which was nice to hear.”
It was the first competition of the year for the Stawell gymnasts who were eager to show off the routines they have been busy learning.
“It turned out great. There were some great routines and great skills on show,” Chalmers said.
“For their first comp of the year everyone did a great job.”
Stawell’s girls showcased their new competition leotards for the first time while in a big first, Stawell’s boys competed in their first competition.
“It was great for the boys to have a go in front of a big crowd,” Chalmers said.
Gymnasts from clubs including Ballarat, Ararat, Natimuk and Mildura competed on Sunday.
“It was a massive effort from everyone at our club and everyone for turning up to make the day spectacular,” Chalmers said.
