The ceremony is on Tuesday.
St Arnaud RSL president Robert Wooley said the ceremony would be centered around Sergeant William Young.
“He was the first Australian to fire a shot in World War I in 1914,” he said.
The ceremony will include the planting of four trees to commemorate those who have served, and died, at war.
The trees come from the state government’s $19,780 project to restore St Arnaud’s Avenue of Honour.
A Northern Grampians Shire Council spokesman said the funding would also include 21 trees to replace the ones missing from St Arnaud Avenue of Honour.
He said the funding would also include an irrigation system to assist in maintaining the trees, an interpretive sign conveying the history of King George's Park and the Avenue of Honour, and to engage an arborist to assess the existing trees.
“This is going to help increase the community's knowledge of the park's history and significance,” the spokesman said.
The government has also provided $9800 for upgrades to Great Western’s war memorial.
“The funding is for the war memorial obelisk and gates via cleaning, repainting and restoring,” the spokesman said.
“It could lead to an increase in attendance at commemorative services and hopefully a strong sense of community pride.”
