Western Victoria Primary Health Network and My Health Record community engagement and communications officer Sam McIntosh facilitated Stawell Neighbourhood House’s information session on Monday.
“I’m running as many workshops as possible – including another workshop in Stawell, four in Ararat and several in Horsham,” she said.
Ms McIntosh said information was provided in various forms for people to access.
My Health Record is an online summary of an individual’s key health information.
It will bring together information from the individual, healthcare providers and Medicare.
This may include hospital discharge summaries, reports from tests and scans, Medicare and Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, organ donation decisions and allergy information.
The information will be available to the individual across Australia.
During the information session, a participant asked how to access My Health Record if they are not computer literate.
Stawell Neighbourhood House said anyone who needs assistance with accessing My Health Record can ask the house for assistance.
By the end of 2018, a My Health Record will automatically be created for every Australian unless they opt-out of the system.
More than five million Australians already have a My Health Record.
