Ararat’s sergeant Brendan Vann said two cars collided on the Western Highway at about 9.25am.
He said one driver was an elderly woman from Melbourne while the other was an Ararat woman in her early 20s.
Emergency services diverted traffic on the Western Highway in to a single lane road for an hour.
Sergeant Vann said both drivers were taken to the Ararat Base Hospital with minor injuries.
He said the cause of the car was still under investigation and police are looking for witnesses with any information to come forward.
He said people can contact senior constable Michael Petrov on 5355 1500.
