Stanley is a stray carpet python.
DELWP has been caring for the python for over a month and named the python Stanley.
DELWP said the python is healthy and appears to have been well cared for.
They are hoping the owner will come forward for Stanley.
DELWP program manager of compliance operations Jim O’Brien said the python was found in a woodshed in Buninyong.
“It was well outside of the natural range and climate for this species,” he said.
“He (Stanley) is healthy and happy being handled, so he must belong to someone.
“We would love to hand him back to his owner, so Stanley can continue to be cared for.”
A diverse range of wildlife is protected under the Wildlife Act 1975 and Wildlife Regulations 2013.
This includes carpet pythons.
DELWP urges owners to check their licenses regularly and ensure they are up to date.
