Conditions were cold and blustery for the first day of trials as teams from across Western Victoria faced off.
The Wimmera-Mallee side took on a South-West team in the first match of the day, with one Stawell and three Ararat players taking to the field in the contest.
Goldfields and Hampden played in the second match before a Western District and Goldfields girls team finished the day off.
AFL Wimmera-Mallee football development manager Jason Muldoon, who was at Alexandra Oval, said the day was a great learning experience for the two Wimmera sides.
“To have some of the best young talent in Western Victoria in one spot competing against one another is fantastic,” he said.
“The players are able to learn from one another to develop their own game.”
The second set of trial matches will be held again at Alexandra Oval next Wednesday.
