Following the final day of DUFFL competition for 2018, Summers was announced as the league’s best and fairest at the presentation night on Sunday.
Summers received 23 votes from the 10 home-and-away matches, four more votes than the next player.
“We went there with some confidence that she would do well because she had a great season but you never know I guess,” Stawell girls coach and Crystal’s father Rod Summers said.
“No one can argue with her worthiness. Her skills have improved out of sight this season.
“She’s always had the grunt to get in there but her marking, kicking and general skills have come along a lot this season.”
Summers said he could not have been prouder when his daughter was announced as the winner.
“Her teammates gave her a great cheer of her nickname ‘Diddle’ when she won – it was a great moment as a coach and a Dad,” he said.
Crystal Summers has turned out to be one of the league’s strongest ruck players, beginning to find players with delicate tap work.

Her father said she has worked hard on her ruck work this year.
“With the improvement in her team she could rely on others a lot more,” he said.
“Rather than just bashing the ball forward she can tap it to players with a bit more method to what she is doing.
“She loves the ruck. There have been a few head knocks and injuries but she loves that physical side of the game.”
