With four under 17 players replacing injured or ill A Graders, Great Western struggled as the ladder leaders piled on the goals to record the biggest A Grade win of the year.
The Tigers scored 104 goals to Great Western’s 10.
“We had some fantastic under 17 girls step up to play, some of them having their first ever A Grade game,” Lions coach Amy Kindred said.
“It was a tough game for the young girls to step up to but they played hard and held their own.
“Although the score shows a huge loss the girls still fought hard and we still had some promising game play which I can only be happy with considering we had a different line-up again.”
Kim Shalders was one of Great Western’s best rotating through the mid-court and defense while Sophie Graham fought hard for her six goals in attack.
The Lions managed to get off 25 shots for 10 goals, shooting the ball 100 times less than their opposition.
“Woorndoo are clearly a much more experienced and a very tall side and they managed to show through all our weaknesses,” Kindred said.
“The positive to come out of a game like this is that we know what needs working on the most.
“Our attacking end really struggled to get clear leads out and make space and their defence just picked up any loose passes we made.”
