The Stawell branch of the Country Women’s Association has commissioned and, with the co-operation of NGSC and Wimmera Regional Library, installed the silhouettes as part of its acknowledgment to both the WWI Centenary and the 90th anniversary of CWA in Victoria.
Stawell CWA secretary Alison Nicholson said the project has been a long time in the making.
“We are thrilled to finally see it come to fruition,” Alison said.
“We have entitled the installation ‘Home Front’ as a dedication to the women of the town and district who worked, fundraised, farmed and generally held families together during times of local and national disasters,” she said.
Home Front was officially unveiled at the library on the weekend.
