Navarre’s Bibby and Stawell’s O’Callaghan have been selected in the AFL Goldfields team that will travel to compete in the Gold Coast Netball Carnival from July 7-15 during the second week of the winter school holidays.
The girls are part of a 10-player squad selected for the carnival which will see more than 60 teams from around Australia and the world compete.
AFL Goldfields netball manager Grace Bibby said the carnival is a great opportunity for the girls to develop their netball as well as have a good time.
“Our main focus is on fun,” she said.
“The girls will be able to meet so many different people, experience some great things like the theme parks and really enjoy what netball has to offer.”
Both Bibby and O’Callaghan have had strong netball seasons to date.
Bibby was named as the Maryborough Castlemaine District Netball League’s most valuable player and best on court at two separate interleague events.
O’Callaghan has split her talents between home club Stawell and Ballarat Football Netball League team North Ballarat.
She will also be busy this weekend, representing the BFNL in the association championships in Melbourne, competing against some Stawell teammates picked in the under-15 Wimmera netball team.
