The Stawell man has been charged with burglary, theft and police assault. .
He was remanded in custody and will appear at Ballarat Magistrates' Court on 12 June.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
Earlier – 1pm
The siege has ended after nearly six-and-a-half hours.
Police arrested the 26-year-old man at about 12.30pm on Saturday afternoon. He was taken to hospital for a mental health assessment.
Police will interview him and continue their investigation into a burglary in Stawell, once he is deemed mentally fit to be interviewed.
The investigation into the burglary in Stawell remains ongoing.
Earlier – 10am
Police are at a siege at an address in Stawell’s Napier Street.
Police attended the scene shortly before 6am as part of an investigation into a burglary in Stawell overnight.
When police attempted to speak to the alleged suspect, he has threatened self-harm and refused to leave the address.
Police are currently negotiating with the man. There is no one else in the residence.

Police have blocked off the intersection of Napier and Colquhoun Streets in Stawell.
At least five Critical Incident Response Team police officers attended the scene early on Saturday morning.
Police appeared to be waiting outside one house.
