We take a look at how things have shaped up for the Baggies nearly halfway through the season.
WHERE THEY STAND
Sixth place with three wins, three losses, one draw and one bye. Two points clear of seventh-placed Laharum.
MOMENT TO REMEMBER
There have been a few milestones for the Baggies this season but none more special than coach Scott Carey’s 200th match.
The day did not turn out too well for Carey, breaking his hand in a loss to Edenhope-Apsley at home but it was still a day of celebration for a club stalwart.
Another day the Baggies will look back on fondly was their round five performance against Harrow-Balmoral. Despite losing the match, Swifts were admirable in defeat, falling short by 11 points.
WOULD RATHER FORGET
As mentioned above, the Baggies wouldn’t have been too happy with a home loss to the Saints in round four but they will really rue their performance away from home against Kalkee in round seven.
Going into the match with third taking on fourth, Swifts were lacklustre, going down by 85 points.
IF I COULD TURN BACK TIME
If the Baggies could go back a few weeks and change anything it would be injuries to captain Scott Carey and leading goal-kicker Zac Armer.
Armer will miss the season with and ACL injury while Carey is still on the sidelines with a broken hand.
LOOK INTO THE CRYSTAL BALL
The Baggies will be looking to secure their spot in the top six and hope to still make an impact come September.
Games against Noradjuha-Quantong, Laharum and Jeparit-Rainbow in the next three weeks will be crucial for Swifts’ finals chances.
A bye in round 14 will gift Swifts four important points nearing the end of the season.
