Pomonal Star Party was one of the 285 parties registered to help break the world record.
More then 40,000 people simultaneously observed the moon through a telescope or binoculars for 10 minutes on Wednesday night.
The previous record was set at 7960 people.
Pomonal Star Party host Peter Shelley said breaking the record is fantastic.
“It was a great success, with us contributing 96 stargazers to the total for the world record,” he said.
“Everyone on the night had a great time.”
Pomonal went the extra mile on May 23 and ended up stargazing for 13 minutes, after starting early.
