A 70-year-old woman walking the Pinnacle track on the Grampians with her husband has taken herself to hospital after calling for emergency services.
The woman called emergency services reporting she had chest pains just before 2pm today.
Stawell Emergency Service, police and ambulance crews searched the track multiple times before finding out the woman had left the area.
They were told by passers-by that the woman and her husband had left and driven to Stawell Hospital before emergency crews were able to reach the pair.
Stawell SES duty officer Jenny Rooke said in those situations people are “better off waiting”.
“Although we are pleased she has been able to make her way down to the car, if emergency services are called people are better up waiting for us to arrive,” she said.
“Our crews spent valuable time running around searching for them so it is safest for everyone involved to stay where they are and wait for us.”
The woman’s condition is unknown.
